National Park Rangers perform many roles serving our National Parks. I was most fortunate to have four summers to serve the Office of interpretion for three parks between 2010 and 2015. I shadowed scientists and permanent and seasonal Rangers while resourcing the actual sites, library, and collections to provide workshops and assist visitors in assuring a positive and enriching experience. Using my free time I studied artifacts, made sketches, rendered paintings, and documented the region in photography and video. I brought these studies and resources back to my studio in Chicago and developed work that addressed connections I made from my experiences that were then presented in public settings.
